The Bermuda National Standards Committee (BNSC) is a subcommittee of the Nonprofit Alliance of Bermuda’s Board of Directors that provides final approval for all designations; thus, organisations become “BNSC-Certified” or “BNSC-Accredited.”
Responsibilities of the BNSC:
•Approve or reject recommendations for designations
•Ensure that the accreditation and certification processes are conducted with integrity and fairness
•Review and update the Standards in collaboration with the Council on Accreditation and the Standards Advisory Group.
•Provide feedback and guidance to improve the accreditation and certification processes.
•Consult with the Standards Advisory Group
Membership of the BNSC:
•Chaired by a member of the NAB Board of Directors.
•Additional members will be
•subject matter experts in fields related to the standards
•individuals with prior experience with accreditation and certification processes,
•representatives from key stakeholder groups.
•Composition of the committee should reflect a diverse cross-section of experience and expertise relevant to nonprofit and human services governance, management and operations.
•Will not include current staff from organisations that will undergo accreditation or certification, in order to avoid conflicts of interest
The Standards Advisory Group
There will also be a Standards Advisory Group that will work in partnership with the BNSC.
Responsibilities:
•Discuss any proposed or needed changes to the standards
•Provide feedback on the functioning of the accreditation and certification process
•Participate as Certification and Accreditation reviewers
