Accreditation Standards
The COA Standards for Accreditation are adapted from the internationally validated Council on Accreditation (COA) Standards, developed by Social Current. These standards represent best practices in nonprofit and human service delivery, and provide a comprehensive framework for assessing operational excellence, accountability, and service impact. Designed to promote consistency, transparency, and continuous improvement across Bermuda’s nonprofit and government sectors, these standards serve as the foundation for all accreditation reviews conducted by the Nonprofit Alliance of Bermuda (NAB). Organisations seeking accreditation are encouraged to review the standards carefully, as they outline the core expectations. Please note organisations must also meet all of the certification standards as a part of accreditation. They must also meet all programme and service-specific standards relevant for their organisation.
Accreditation Checklist
The Accreditation Checklists are designed to help organisations prepare for their upcoming review by providing a clear, itemised reference of the documentation required for each standard. These checklists are aligned with the Standards and serve as a practical tool to support internal planning and submission readiness. While helpful in organising materials, these checklists are not a substitute for the full standards. Organisations are strongly advised to consult the full Council on Accreditation (COA) Standards (above) for comprehensive guidance and expectations. Please note organisations must also meet all of the certification standards as a part of accreditation. They must also meet all programme and service-specific standards relevant for their organisation.
